The International Conference Veloforum 2017 was held on October 6–8 in Mykolaiv, bringing together more than 100 participants from 24 Ukrainian cities and eight European countries.
There were experts in urban transport planning and sustainable development, leaders of NGOs, and representatives of the city councils from Ukraine, Germany (Berlin), Sweden (Stockholm), Belgium (Brussels), Poland (Lublin), Belarus (Minsk).

Veloforum has become a meeting place for city mayors, transport engineers, cycling activists, and cyclists from different cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Yaremche, Sumy, Kryvyi Rig, Vasylkiv, Boyarka, Vinnytsya, Drohobych, Zhytomyr, Myrgorod, Perechyn, Chernivtsi, Chernigiv, Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mukacheve, Starobilsk, and others.
The main topic of 2017 conference was ‘The bicycle as a catalyst for changes in cities’. So the first day of the Veloforum was devoted to the development of national and local cycling practices as well as the interaction of cycling activists with municipal and state self-government bodies. In general, most of the reports were of a practical nature.
Another important aspect of Veloforum is the presentation of advocacy campaigns for transport activists and success stories of the implementation of cycling initiatives in various Ukrainian cities.

Veloforum is an international conference at the intersection of transport policy, sustainable local development, and civil society. The conference invites journalists, members of local councils, representatives, employees of municipal enterprises, and representatives of executive committees responsible for transport, urban planning, and tourism policy.
Organizers of the Veloforum are NGOs such as the Kyiv Cyclists’ Association and the Center for Social and Business Initiatives (Yaremche) as well as the consulting company Dornier Consulting. The co-organizers are the Mykolaiv City Hall, the Alter-Sport, NGO with the support of the Mykolaiv Development Agency, and the mayor of Mykolaiv.
The Veloforum 2017 is supported by the European Union, the British Embassy in Kyiv, the British Council, the Heinrich Boll Foundation in Ukraine, the Swedish Embassy in Kyiv, the Black Sea University of Petro Mohyla, Oleksandr Sinkevych, Mayor of the City of Nikolaev, and the Office of the Family, Children and Youth of the Mykolaiv City Council.
Partners of Veloforum are Urban Consulting Group, an official distributor of Thule fasteners, luggage racks, and bicycle accessories in Ukraine, Bagazhnik.ua, and the official dealer of Renault cars in Mykolaiv, M Motors.

Last year the Veloforum 2016 was held in Kharkiv. Next year, in 2018, the city of Ivano-Frankivsk won the right to take Veloforum.
